Te Piwakawaka o nga tamariki – The Fantail of the children
A beautiful/ wonderful sound…what was that I heard?
Wait I can see an amazing bird.
Our piwakawaka flying straight from AB’s
Following and searching as quiet as you please,
The forest and bush; her place called home,
A beautiful environment; to be left alone.
But what can I hear in her song so sad,
No home anymore or not as grand as she had.
The dress I believe comes straight from her tree,
All unclaimed artwork, how can that be!
We chop and cut; paper to waste.
Look after our piwakawaka with great haste.
Aspiring Beginnings, sustainability! Let’s lead the way.
And keep our piwakawaka’s home for eternity and a day.
