To ensure the safety and well-being of our animals it is important that they regularly receive visits; especially when we are closed. At least once a day would be a minimum.
We have a roster and request that every family nominate at least one weekend to help out.
Feeding instructions for the Guinea Pig’s
Pellets
- Fill bowl or feeder up with Guinea Pig/Rabbit pellets.
- Do not fill with chicken pellets as this upsets their digestive system.
- If the food is old/ soggy throw it out and refill with fresh food
- The pellets can be found in the cupboard beside Ruby’s hutch.
Water
- You can fill up the water bottles at the tap beside the sandpit.
- It is really important that the water bottles are filled to the top, especially on those hot weekend days.
Fresh fruit and Veggies
- Save your veggie scraps for our animals to enjoy. They can eat almost anything; just avoid potato skins, cabbage and bananas. If you are unsure about anything don’t hesitate to ask. “Google” can be very informative as well.
And for the chickens…
General
- Water trough can be filled at the tap beside the coop.
- Pellets are in the white plastic box.
- One scoop of pellets per bird.
- Spare chicken pellets are kept in the maintenance cupboard or shed.
- Fresh fruit & veggies, avoid oranges and bananas.
- The chickens will appreciate an opportunity to have a scratch around. They must be put back in the coop at night’s to avoid predator attacks.
