We had noticed that bikes, and being able to ride them, was something of great interest to most of the tamariki. As we have such a great space to ride on over on the hockey turf we though it might be nice to support the ever increasing interest with a “bike day”!!
As there has been a lot of imaginary ‘police ‘ play also we thought we would invite Constable Vink in to come check our bikes out and talk about road safety at the same time.
We were amazed at the different types of bikes that we could see , some had four wheels, others just two and there were even some scooters.
Constable Vink arrived after morning tea. We talked about helmets, roads and gave him a display of our bike skills.
Some of the tamariki even learnt to ride without their training wheels. For other’s it was all about sharing their bikes and taking turns whilst some just enjoyed practicing in such a great space.
I also saw great kindness and helping of friends who needed a push, encouragement to try or just fun having a ride
